CLUSA El Salvador Monitoring and Evaluation System
Leveraging the success and insights gained from a previous collaboration with NCBA CLUSA, K&F Consulting embarked on designing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation system for CLUSA El Salvador. Building upon the foundation of our experience, this project incorporated elements inspired by the robust system developed for NCBA CLUSA.
CLUSA El Salvador's Commitment to Agricultural Development
As a leading NGO dedicated to agricultural cooperative development in El Salvador, CLUSA El Salvador has been instrumental in driving sustainable agricultural practices and fostering economic resilience in the region. Recognizing the importance of rigorous monitoring and evaluation, CLUSA El Salvador partnered with K&F Consulting to enhance the effectiveness of their agricultural projects.
Project Objectives
The primary objective of this project was to establish a robust monitoring and evaluation system tailored to the unique needs of CLUSA El Salvador's agricultural initiatives. The system aimed to:

Tailored Monitoring and Evaluation System
K&F Consulting worked closely with CLUSA El Salvador to design and implement a monitoring and evaluation system that aligned with the organization's goals. The system encompassed:
- Open Data Kit Collect Integration: Drawing from the proven success of Open Data Kit Collect in mobile data collection, our system integrated this powerful tool. Field agents and project stakeholders leveraged Open Data Kit Collect for real-time data collection in the field, ensuring that every data point was captured accurately, even in remote areas.
- Database Synchronization: The system utilized a sophisticated data synchronization framework, mirroring the approach taken in the NCBA CLUSA project. This allowed field agents to collect data without internet connectivity, and upon reconnecting, the system seamlessly synced the data with CLUSA El Salvador's central database. This approach provided a continuous flow of information, overcoming challenges posed by limited connectivity in certain project locations.
- Automated Indicator Calculation: Inspired by the success of automating indicator calculations in the NCBA CLUSA project, our system took a similar approach. By automating the calculation of key indicators, CLUSA El Salvador gained not only real-time insights into project activities but also a streamlined and accurate process for assessing project impact. This feature facilitated evidence-based adjustments to enhance the effectiveness of agricultural projects.
User-Friendly Interface and Training
Recognizing the importance of user adoption, K&F Consulting developed an intuitive and user-friendly interface for the monitoring and evaluation system. Additionally, comprehensive training sessions were conducted for CLUSA El Salvador's staff, ensuring they could leverage the system to its full potential.
Long-Term Partnership and Ongoing Support
The collaboration between K&F Consulting and CLUSA El Salvador extended beyond the development phase. Ongoing support services, including regular check-ins, troubleshooting assistance, and system updates, were provided to ensure optimal utilization and address emerging needs throughout the project lifecycle.
